Our busy season is here...

This week has been packed full of excitement.
Friday I went to do my usual chore rounds knowing Jessie was VERY close to having her calf,I noticed her two front teats were low and looked around her side to find a beautiful red calf laying in the barn,I checked it over and welcomed another healthy, strong, spunky bull into this world.
He is red with a faint white stripe over his shoulder blades.
Our baby chicks and our Quail are getting big.
I moved 1/2 the chicks to a new pen. Roosters are starting to show trait's even at this young of an age.
Friday also gave us our first harvest from our garden. We had fresh spinach and salad greens.
Today is planting day, I will be putting in more veggie seeds now that the chance of frost is less.
The sheep are getting REALLY big and FULL of milk, the due date is June 7 but the window is May 29~June 19.
The season is in full swing!!!!

Blu and Ana

My new Livestock Guardian puppy is perfect!
I love him to pieces.
He has brought absolute joy to our lives.
What a boy!!

Fuzzy butts everywhere!!

My baby chicks have arrived safe and sound from Performance Poultry in Ontario.
Packed in a box with 100 chicks, 4 compartments and 4 different orders.
We were hoping for a list of what was in the sections but we had to go through each chick to determine what breed it was and who ordered it.
Allot of extra work but I think it worked out that we each have our right order.
I have to say I'm smitten with the Spangled Russian Orloff chicks! Very cute.
I built my brooder from a plastic stock tank. I covered the top with hardware cloth and placed my heat lamp on top.Over the wire I placed windows to keep the heat in and the wind out.
They are all doing great.

Found!

We will be inviting a new member to our family at Hidden Meadow Farm.
This is our new LGD.
He will be coming to live with us at the beginning of the week.
The puppy grew up in a sheep barn and is 10 weeks old, both his parents are from working lines.
He is from Maremma parents, yes he is not white but he sure has all the other characteristics of a Maremma, at 10 weeks he is well over 20lbs.
